Article Abstract:
The management of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plan to double the firm's annual turnover, of 85 billion pounds sterling, by 2004 and as part of the strategy they acquired Asda is June 1999. There is concern the new owners of Asda will cut the amount they spend on store construction. They have already indicated they plan to reduce construction costs by 20%. Wal-Mart tends to build straightforward stores. They always put all of the building work out to tender and the work is managed by an in-house team of designers.
