Who cares wins
Article Abstract:
UK firm Senior Aluminium Systems (SAS) has taken an unconventional approach to its relationships with customers, but this apparently risky approach is bearing fruit and the firm is thriving. SAS supplies aluminium systems to fabricators, including the competitive shop front and curtainwall sector, where many firms go out of business. SAS does not carry out financial checks on its customers, and its strategy is to support any customers with business or financial problems, instead of harassing them over payment. Since its formation in 1991, SAS has seen turnover rise to 6 million pounds sterling.

Still crazing ...
Article Abstract:
Concrete floor slabs and screeds still suffer from an enormous number of defects despite advances in technology. The most common defect cracking or crazing is a result of a poor sand and cement mixture that can cause voids between the screed and slab or delamination. Thermal shrinkage and shrinkage causes cracking. Concrete will continue to shrink up to a year. Thin applications of screed can result in defects. Slippery floors can occur due to dust release because of the failure to seal the concrete. Post-tensioned slabs should be used to avoid cracking.

Space shuffle
Article Abstract:
The London Planetarium is being modernised at a cost of 4.5 million pounds sterling. The work is being carried out by Fletcher Priest as architects and SB Tietz as structural designers. The aim is to rationalise usage of space and improve circulation of visitors. A new floordeck is being installed above the original floor. The work has progressed while the Planetarium is in use, which has meant scheduling work to meet the demands of quiet for visitors.
