Festive reasons
Article Abstract:
The German Bundesgartenschau (BGS) or Federal Garden Festivals were launched in order to encourage regeneration of cities during the post-war era. The horticultural event places equal importance to the gardens and displays alike and shows are currently booked until the year 2003. Karlsuhe is to hold the event in the year 2001 and it has prioritised the upgrading and restructuring of current parks and 'ecological urban renewal'. The aims of the BGS are discussed further.

The novel endures not just because of its Cold War theme, but also due to its characterization of human nature. The 50th anniversary edition drawings by Ralph Steadman do not do the work justice.
