Why can't we have cheaper CDs?
Article Abstract:
CDs are more expensive in Australia than in many other countries because of import restrictions. The claim is that the restrictions protect the music industry of the country. The only companies that can import CDs are the six largely foreign-owned companies that control about 85% of CD sales in Australia. Consumers definitely are hurt by the lack of competition and pay more than they do in many countries. The government is considering removing import restrictions. The music industry says piracy and increased competition from imports will cost jobs.

Article Abstract:
Few companies have considered how to print out the Euro symbol or glyph. Standards have not yet been ratified and manufacturers have been waiting before taking any action. It is important to consider how often the symbol will needed to be printed, and if it is rarely used, a downloaded character is a cost effective and simple method. A compliant printer may be necessary if it is to be used more.
