The French metal packaging company is largely dominated by Crown Cork & Seal, the world's largest, with a turnover of FFr 3.596bn, followed by Pechiney with FFr 1.47bn, Suiza foods with FFr 1.191bn, Viag with FFr 840.24mn and Impress Metal Packaging with FFr 807.39mn. Impress Metal Packaging was born from joining the metal food can activities of the French company Pechiney and the German company Viag.

FRANCE: NEW PACKAGING FOR SARDINES

The Capitaine Cook brand has introduced sardines in a lidded aluminium can with a sleeve. The pre-cut lid can be rotogravure printed with up to six colours. This packaging can be heat sealed and it comes in two sizes - 93 cubic centimetres and 133 cubic centimetres. It is made by the Swiss company Alupack.

France: A new product from D'Aucy

D'Aucy has introduced frozen Mosaique d Riz aux Petits Legumes (steamed rice with vegetables) which are ready-to-use. This product comes in novel packaging: a futuristic bag with a metallised appearance.
