FRANCE: AUTOMATION AT LINDT
Article Abstract:
Lindt, the Swiss chocolate company, automated its first packaging line in 1982-1983. Now its French plant at Oloron-Sainte-Marie in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques departement packages two thirds of its 1,500 tonnes of chocolate per year, on automated lines. The group has recently added new Delta-Demaurex equipment to its lines, which in general are used for packages of 100 grams or more, with the other packaging done by hand. The only disadvantage of these new lines is the risk of destroying a chocolate through a too-powerful suction.
