Maastrichtian ammonites from the Corsicana Formation in northeast Texas
Article Abstract:
Geological research in the Corsicana Formation in northeast Texas produced four previously undescribed collections of ammonites, bringing the number of these Maastrichtian ammonites found there to eleven. Similar fauna are found in northern Mexico, the Escondido Formation in Trans-Pecos Texas and the Prairie Bluff Chalk of Mississippi and Alabama. Maryland's Severn Formation and the Owl Creek Formation of Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee have also produced elements of these fauna.

Relating eolian bounding-surface geometries to the bed forms that generated them: Etjo Formation, Cretaceous, Namibia
Article Abstract:
Eolian beds, like the Etjo Formation, are thick fluvial sandstone successions. Flood basalts displace eolian sedimentation, thereby, causing its termination. Further erosion has caused the exposed of these bed forms, which has made them accessible for further study by geologists. Three-dimensional geometry models of the ancient eolian system can be constructed to establish relationships between bed-form morphology and its bounding-surface geometries.

Biogenic manganese oxides: Properties and mechanisms of formation
Article Abstract:
Manganese (IV) oxides produced through microbial activity, biogenic Mn oxides or Mn biooxides, are believed to be the most abundant and highly reactive Mn oxide phases in the environment. The properties of Mn biooxides at the atomic and molecular level might provide the impetus to explore the synthesis of Mn biooxides useful for environmental and materials science applications.
