Bangkok Summit Declaration of 1995

Article Abstract:

The Heads of State and Governments of the Assn of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) declared their intentions to strengthen ASEAN, identity with active participation of its citizens and to incorporate all southeast Asian nations to its fold. It was decided in the Bangkok Summit, 1995 that ASEAN would enhance cooperation among member states in the fields of security and economy. It would strengthen its ties with other regional and international institutions to promote peace, security and prosperity. ASEAN community members will also enhance cooperation among themselves in the fields of science and technology.

First ASEAN Finance Ministers Meeting, Phuket, Thailand, 1 March 1997: joint press communique

Article Abstract:

Delegates attending the first Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Finance Ministers Meeting in Phuket, Thailand, on 1 Mar 1997 acknowledged the importance of having regular consultations on macroeconomic policies. They signed the Ministerial Understanding on ASEAN Cooperation in Finance, along with the ASEAN Agreement on Customs. They emphasized their commitment to further liberalization of the financial services sector, and recognized the need to boost the international attractiveness of ASEAN capital markets.

The second ASEAN Transport Ministers (ATM) Meeting, Chiang Mai, Thailand, 28 February 1997: joint press statement

Article Abstract:

Delegates attending the second Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Transport Ministers (ATM) Meeting in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on Feb 28, 1997, noted that progress had been made towards the implementation of the ASEAN Plan of Action in Transport and Communications. It was agreed to adopt the Integrated Implementation Programme drafted by the ASEAN Secretariat as endorsed by the Senior Transport Officials Meeting. Emphasis was placed on the importance of developing the Competitive Air Services Policy.
