Article Abstract:
A chronological arrangement of important events and activities of the European Union in 1995 are presented. Some of these include France's assumption into the Council Presidency, the implementation of the Schengen Accord by seven member states, the signing of the Europe Association Agreements and the holding of the Western Economic Summit meeting in Canada. The year also marked the last appearance of President Francois Mitterrand before the European Parliament.

Editorial: building Europe - a need for more leadership?
Article Abstract:
The European Union's success in developing the concept of a Single European Market has failed to highlight potential leadership problems in the group. Problems may arise due to the absence of an institutional leadership base similar to those adopted by member countries. Moreover, leadership functions have been divided between various entities, such as the European Commission and the European Council.
