Domestic stabilisation of export crop prices: Philippine copra and Malaysian rubber
A comparative analysis is conducted on the effects of alternative policy regimes on the domestic prices, producer revenue and welfare for Philippine copra and Malaysian rubber exports. Findings show that the effects of price stabilization may vary depending on the nature of other adopted state policies. Thus, the idea of evaluating domestic price stabilization programs apart from existing government intervention schemes is seriously put into question.

Preemption is found to be welfare reducing. The practice of divestiture may decrease efficiency losses. Long-term forward contracts by the dominant firm deters market entry.
