Experimental evidence on product adoption in the presence of network externalities

Article Abstract:

The results of the test that was conducted to find the efficacy of Katz and Shapiro's (1986) work on network externalities where two rival sellers compete to sell their technological products to two different groups of consumers are described. The procedures followed in the study are mentioned.

Do newspaper JOAs charge monopoly advertising rates?

Article Abstract:

The economic effects of joint operating agreement (JOA) of newspapers are discussed. The results show that JOAs act as constrained monopolists in setting ad rates and circulation levels.
