The integration of intelligent electronic systems and intelligent building systems has made security systems much more complex. The genetic science of DNA is also incorporated to mark stolen goods. Such products provide a reliable way of establishing ownership and providing proof that the guilty party was on the premises. The technology of biometrics also looks at individual properties to verify that an authorized individual is entering or leaving the premises.

The use of the terms 'baud' and 'baud rate' are both correct as a unit of signaling speed. The term 'baud' comes from J.M.E. Baudot, a turn-of-the-century French telegrapher and inventor. Not much is known about Baudot except the units and the Baudot Code, an error-detecting character code.
