Innovation and natural resources: a dynamic game with uncertainty
Article Abstract:
A strategic interdependence exists between resource-exporting and importing countries. Built on the fact that natural resources are finite, both countries will undergo R&D strategies on the other's resource-extraction policies, and vice versa, in the hope of discovering a substitute technology. A simple model of this type of interdependence is introduced. However, the concentration is on the strategic extraction by the exporter rather than on the strategic innovation by the importer.
