Israel's trade policy review
Article Abstract:
Israeli's trade policy has changed considerably since the 1970s with the realization that opening up of the economy was needed to sustain economic growth. Since then, the government has worked towards liberalization unilaterally, bilaterally and multilaterally. It is pursuing linear tariff reduction, including the scrapping of all specific duties. However, Israel still has a number of problems that need to be addressed, including its high budget deficit, unsustainable annual trade deficit, high inflation rate and slow privatization program.

Canadian trade policy: the GATT's 1995 review
Article Abstract:
The 1995 GATT Trade Policy Review serves as an important source of information on Canadian trade policies. It shows that Canada is pursuing the seemingly conflicting goals of gaining greater access to the large American market while at the same time trying to avoid overdependence on the world's largest economy. The impact on Canada of the the North American Free Trade Agreement, the Canada-US Free Trade Agreement, the Uruguay Round and the Canadian unilateral trade liberalization is discussed.
