Article Abstract:
Laser-disc video games are the latest entry in the video games market. The discs are the grooveless, laser-read optical discs, a type developed by Philips Electronics. These games are expensive, costing about $4,000 each. A major technical problem is dead time, when the screen is blank while the disc is searched for the selected game. This product may be too expensive for the home market. The American video arcade business is still slumping.
