Article Abstract:
Saudi Arabia plans to expand greatly the mining of minerals within its borders. Accordingly, the country's Directorate General of Mineral Resources (DGMR) is seeking investors and joint venture partners from among American and other foreign suppliers of mining equipment. Sales of mining equipment should rise at a double-digit pace when Saudi Arabia begins to develop new iron, bauxite and phosphate mines. The DGMR is responsible for licensing foreign companies operating in Saudi Arabia and for enforcing the rule requiring a Saudi sponsor or local agent distributor.
