Switching to the policy mode: incentives by the OECD jobs study to change our mindset

Article Abstract:

The report "The OECD Jobs Study" published by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development is examined. The differences in unemployment and labor rates among various countries are compared. It also analyzed the macroeconomic situation and international cooperation. Although it discussed a lot of issues affecting the labor market, the study failed to provide suggestions for the resolution of unemployment problems.

Mode of payment in household expenditures

Article Abstract:

A study of the mode of payment choice in household expenditures and the factors that influence such modes of payment is presented.The empirical study made use of a 1987 Dutch household survey containing information on the mode of payment for various expenditures. The study has concluded that the amount paid and the transaction's institutional arrangementsare the primary determinants for the mode of payment.

Money, barter, and costly information acquisition

Article Abstract:

A search-theoretic model which captures costly information acquisition is examined in analyzing exchange with and without fiat money. The Williamson-Wright model is extended where agents are allowed to invest in information by acquiring an inspection technology at a fixed cost. Information acquisition cultivates production and exchange of good commodities.
