In response to an article by Iain McLean, which suggesed that Ron Dearing protected the National Coal Board in the aftermath of the Aberfan disaster, Dearing defends his position at the time. The disaster occurred in 1966, when Dearing worked for the Ministry of Power; and the McLean report was based on material released by the Public Record Office. Dearing claims that his actions were 'disinterested and just'.

A physicist and astronomer who is a writer and technical adviser for the Star Trek series, believes that, although scientists have discovered the possibility of stretching and shrinking space, it will be a long time before we can travel at warp speeds. He feels that humans will eventually be able to travel faster than the speed of light.

Article Abstract:
Science fiction has an educational role to play. While it is arguable that the actual content of the majority of science fiction works could be used as educational resources, it is possible that science fiction can be used to inspire people into either seeking out the scientific basis for things or to becoming scientists themselves.
