Of these, almost a third work for 16 to 35 hours a week, while almost 40% earn less than 4 pounds sterling an hour. Working long hours can have a negative impact, with students missing classes, becoming tired and having less time to complete their coursework. Some students work in order to survive, while others work because they wish to fund a comfortable lifestyle or feel that work will bring valuable experience.
