Ashrawi outlines peace agenda

Article Abstract:

Professor Hanan Ashrawi, Palestinian higher education minister, speaks in the week after the unrest which arose as a response to the opening of the new gate to the Hasmonean Tunnel in Jerusalem in September 1996. She describes the current situation of Palestinian students and academics and outlines the Palestinian agenda for peace. Many Palestinian students were killed or injured and there are restrictions on mobility and access. Academics articulate the will of the people for peace in newspapers and attempt to re-establish discussions for peace.
