Elementary, my dear Bayesian
Article Abstract:
The Bayesian inference mathematical technique is being used in the United Kingdom by forensic scientists to help them make more accurate deductions about unknown events through the use of known data. Scientists and lawyers should both study Bayesian inference to make deductions about their own work and so communicate with each other more effectively in terms of inference, probability and logic, claim some researchers. Some believe forensic scientists currently use statistical methods which can confuse the analysis of criminal evidence.

Jeux sans frontieres
Article Abstract:
Mating behavior in humans is linked to brain structure, according to David Buss, psychologist, who has studied this behavior across a number of cultures. Buss argues that some behavior is universal, such as seeking a mate with intelligence, good health, dependability and kindness. Cultural variations include the importance placed on virginity, while gender variations include men desiring younger women and seeking attractiveness, while women seek older men who have more access to resources.

Old punk seeks life on the street: Malcolm McLaren, the father of punk, may be seen more often in lecture halls than the King's Road these days, but his inspiration is still drawn from the streets
Article Abstract:
Malcolm McLaren has often been accused of exaggerating the part he played in the creation of the Sex Pistols band and the punk movement. McLaren has increased his lecturing commitments, especially at art colleges, and is producing a new album featuring people he has met during his travels, inspired mainly by his work with young people on the street. He has an interest in young people's notions of art and fashion.
