Article Abstract:

Heidi Auman has been studying silver gulls on the shores of Hobart in Tasmania and the remote island in Bass Straits for the last two years, basing research on thje hypothesis that birds eating junk food suffer the same consequences as humans. Ms Auman is completing her PhD at the University of Tasmania and her project is dubbed 'Supersize Me: The Effects of Junk Food on Seagulls'.

Labor tries to knock Afghans off agenda

Article Abstract:

In the lead-up to the Australian general election on November 10, 2001, members of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) are trying to move the country's political focus from Afghan refugees to public services such as higher education. Labor leader Kim Beazley wants to show up the government's poor education record.

Staff and students at an increasing number of Australian universities are gaining access to academic, administrative and support services via web portal systems. Entry to the portal is gained by the use of a password.
