Future Trends in Electronic Teaching
Article Abstract:
Four major trends are predicted to have an impact on future electronic teaching. The first future trend discussed is networking. Networking can save schools large amounts of money through the sharing of storage devices and printers. The second trend, telecommunications networks, can be used for electronic messages, creation of an electronic school newspaper, computer program trading, creation of a district-wide literary publication and more extensive use of information services. The third trend is advances in hardware which will make computers easier to use and smaller, and also advances in peripherals and robots. Trends in software include the development of artificial intelligence, complete computer courseware and interactive video.

Electronic Teaching: Videoconferencing
Article Abstract:
Educational videoconferencing allows schools to use their human resources maximally. Speakers can be shared, and small special classes do not require busing. Two-way, live broadcasting permits students to ask questions and receive answers. An educational videoconferencing system in Irvine, California, links twenty-four schools for math, English as a second language, music, art and science. This type of system can be set up economically if it is connected to an existing cable television network.
