Getting a slice of a bigger pie
Article Abstract:
Some people are still rather resentful of higher education, believing that students do little work and receive money from those in employment. They feel that those who have received higher education are not better fitted than anyone else for the world of work, and that higher education does not boost the financial position of poorer people. However, evidence is emerging that higher education can in fact have a positive impact on a country's economy as a whole. It seems that education may boost growth indirectly by providing the quality of labour required to make the most of profitable investment opportunities.
