Gilded prize for stripper who peeled off the layers

Article Abstract:

London Guildhall University Fine Arts Student Paul Cadman worked on the restoration of a table as part his BSc degree in conservation. The table was covered in white paint and would have cost 20,000 pounds sterling to restore by a firm of professional restorers. Cadman did not know the true value of the table whilst he was carrying out the work which was completed by college staff. The table is thought to have been made by Architect William Kent and its value could be reach many hundreds of thousands of pounds.

The issues surrounding the history of sectarian problems in Northern Ireland are discussed in a new book "The Catholics of Ulster", written by historian Marianne Elliott. She makes use of her own memories as a Catholic in Ulster.

Issues concerning cross border relations in Northern Ireland are discussed. In particular the work of the Centre for Cross Border Studies and its efforts to promote cooperation across communities are examined.
