Golden age of the don is not entirely a relic
Article Abstract:
British academics are widely held to be overworked and underpaid but although salaries may not be as attractive as they once were, the conditions of employment of an admittedly declining number of academics are considerably more favorable than the average. Permanent academics enjoy good holidays as well as periods of paid leave to pursue their educational development, and are very rarely made redundant. They have a considerable degree of freedom in choosing how to allocate their time and are able to make use of university facilities for both paid and unpaid extra-curricular activities.

Problems in measuring and interpreting cognitive decline
Article Abstract:
Evaluating the cognitive functioning of older individuals requires implementation of specific tests. Normal individuals will be tested with an instrument designed to distinguish levels of frank dementia, which normal individuals score near perfect score. The demented subjects will score at the test floor. Cognitive decline may depend on the age of subjects when they begin observation. As subjects are observed over time, the same holds true at each successive testing intervals.
