Knowing history
Article Abstract:
The importance of teaching history to the younger generation who are by-and-large historically illiterate is discussed. History can make children better citizen because it can make them more thoughtful and understanding human being and the pleasure of history consists of an expansion of the experience of being alive.

Major US states including California, Texas and Florida are reviewing a new generation of textbooks as the current seven-year cycle in social studies publishing ends. The new books emerge at a time when educational publishing is increasingly being dominated by a handful of large media corporations.
