Language teachers talk tough
Article Abstract:
Italian foreign language teachers are protesting strongly against the national employment contract which has been proposed by the Italian government, saying it is humiliating and discriminatory. Only 8,000 pounds sterling equivalent has been offered for 500 hours of teaching per year, a rate which is much lower than that of associate professors who some think have a lower workload. It is argued that many other skills apart from teaching English as foreign language are required for the job.

Did Churchill kill Il Duce?
Article Abstract:
Mussolini was shot in 1945 by order of Italy's provincial assembly set up after an armistice had been established with Allied forces. There has been a suggestion that Churchill was involved in Mussolini's death. This is the view of Renzo de Felice from La Sapienza University in Rome, Italy. He argues that Churchill sought to have Mussolini killed to protect Churchill's political career. De Felice is completing a biography of Mussolini which he has worked on since 1965.
