Plagiarism stems from a loss of scholarly ideals

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the growth of plagiarism in universities in the United Kingdom. It is argued that as the university system in the UK has become increasingly market-led, the will to combat plagiarism has lessened to the point where bad practice, such as academic cheating, is either being ignored or is being normalised and accepted.

Institutions wither in the quality straitjacket

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the lowering of quality standards of British universities due to increased bureaucracy are discussed. Particular emphasis is given to the British higher education organisational systems by comparison with American universities.
