Reform is risky business
Article Abstract:
The Rindge School of Technical Arts (RSTA), Massachusetts, has been recognized for its philosophy of vocational education that prefers career-oriented education to job-specific skill training. However, the school has not been formally evaluated, and lacks student tracking methods. RSTA's philosophy is in concordance with employers' needs, as educators cannot rely on giving only one set of job skills per person. Business Education Compact is a non-profit organization that helps schools connect with business enterprises in order to make learning relevant.
