We're victims say death 'joke' pair

Article Abstract:

James Messenger and James Lewis, both students at Plymouth University who have been suspended over a spoof newspaper article which urged students to kill vice-chancellor Roland Levinksy, claim that the are being victimised for their campaign to prevent the closure of the university's Seale-Hayne Agricultural College campus. The two, who accept responsibility for distributing the article but deny writing it, are threatening legal action against Plymouth, stating that their suspension during exam time could damage their education and that they have been caused unnecessary distress.

Hull hath no fury like a city scorned

Article Abstract:

Fears are growing that Lincoln University is planning to close down its remaining premises in Hull, UK, following claims by university vice-chancellor David Chiddick that the city does not appeal to students. Chiddick acknowledges that the Hull campus has, with nearly 1,000 students, only half the number of students anticipated in the university's 2001 strategic plan and that the campus is running at a substantial financial loss, but he asserts that he remains committed to retaining a presence in Hull.
