23rd steam station cost survey: busbar-energy costs reflect reduced inflation

Article Abstract:

Of the 31 stations reporting, 26 burn coal and take delivery by rail. Busbar costs are down drastically to 12.6% from 74%, operating costs are up 33%, construction costs are up 25%. Most plants utilize cooling-towers, only 9 have scrubbers. Almost 75% make use of computers for control-function and over 75% use automatic data collection systems.
