APS team works smarter, cuts substation construction costs by 36%

Article Abstract:

APS managed to cut the costs of building a new distribution and substation by 36% from a projected cost of $1.7 million. The more than $610,000 in savings were realized from a new team design approach that emphasized compactness and the use of innovative technologies.

Cost/benefit analysis speeds AM/FM projects

Electric utility managers cited the cost of an AM/FM system as the largest obstacle to its implementation according to a survey done by GIS Research Corp and AM/FM International. The benefits of AM/FM systems to electric utilities are described.
