Croydon and Midlands tram schemes get tickets to ride

The government is to give funding to the Tramlink scheme in Croydon, UK, and the Midland Metro light rail project, which will cover 12 miles of the Black Country. There will also be private sector funding for both projects. In Croydon, trams could be operating on an 18 mile network from as early as 1998, improving travel across London and reducing traffic congestion.
