Compact disc players, with sales of thirty-five to fifty thousand units in 1983, must have lower prices to reach the six figure sales predicted for 1984. Some executives predict that $299 is the price point necessary for the CDS to reach the mass market. One major problem for compact disc players is the lack of software available and its price.
