Extra value, moves for software let Alpine combat tough car market

Article Abstract:

Alpine Electronics Inc recently broadened its sales conduits for car-audio products in markets outside the US and Europe, as it continues to capitalize on sophisticated technologies to develop advanced equipment. The company has started creating its own software, including car navigation software, as well as hardware in China, where it plans to enter the aftermarket for car audio systems by the year 2003. Alpine also plans to add a second model of car navigator, which will use arrow display software to suggest directions that the vehicle should take.

Article Abstract:

Alpine Electronics Inc has taken the lead in launching car navigation systems in Europe and the US in 1998. The company has expanded its sales channels in markets outside Europe and the US to stimulate the growing adoption of its products. In China, where it already produces hardware and develops software including car navigation software, Alpine has established a number of sales companies in key cities. It intends to enter the Chinese car audio system aftermarket by at least 2003.
