In the small office/home office: tools of the trade

Article Abstract:

Changes in the type of users in the small office/home office environment have resulted in the development of a number of multifunction office equipment. These include the flatbed laser multifunction device capable of Internet faxing, network scanning and printing from Brother International. Other multifunction devices are the MultiPASS C545 color Bubble jet printer from Canon, the Epson Stylus Scan 2000 and the WorkCentre XK35c from Xerox.

DVD expands market focus, Divx on heels

Article Abstract:

Manufacturing and software providers are preparing to roll out DVD-video to the masses. Digital Video Express, for example, is on the verge of launching DVD players with the Divx features to 650 Circuit City, the good guys! and Universal Electronics stores. In October 1998, a Thomson Pro-Scan Divx model with Dolby Digital and DTS pass-through capabilities, is scheduled to be launched, followed by a Panasonic Divx model in November 1998. According to the Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association, 452,027 DVD players had been shipped to dealers in the US.
