Article Abstract:

Scada systems route information about the transmission system to operators and permit the operators to remotely control the power-system components. An EMS (electric management system) is a more sophisticated Scada system. How to integrate such systems into utility systems is presented.

Forced-cooled cable serves urban area

Article Abstract:

Commonwealth Edison Co uses oil to absorb the heat emitted from a power cable used often between two of its substations. The utility decided to use force-cooling to reduce heat output instead of replacing the cable with a larger one.
