Japanes makers sow seeds in U.S. digital broadcasting market

Article Abstract:

Leading Japanese consumer elecrtonics (CE) companies made great strides during the 2000 National Assn Broadcasters (NAB) trade show in Las Vegas, NV. At the show Japanese CE manufacturers displayed products that are designed for the digital satellite broadcast in the US. These products include digital TV sets, digital video disc players and digital camcorders. The Japanese contigent at the NAB show include Sony Corp, NEC Corp, Victor Company of Japan Ltd and Matsushita Electrci Industrial Company Ltd.

U.S. consumer electronics market projects 5 percent hike in 2001

Article Abstract:

The US market for consumer electronics is expected to climb 5% to US$92.8 billion despite the expected slowing of the US economy in 2001. The rise will be supported by robust demand for audio-video appliances and information and communication equipment. Beyond 2001, the market in the US should grow at a rate of approximately 6% to reach $100 billion by 2003, according to the US Consumer Electronics Assn.

U.S. consumer electronics market to reach 9 trillion yen

Article Abstract:

The US Consumer Electronics Assn predicts that sales of consumer electronics will rise by 6% in 2000, reaching $85.7 billion. Sales growth will be primarily fueled by strong demand for digital video discs, camcorders and home information equipment such as computers and cordless telephones. Sales of digital cameras, televisions and video cassette recorders are also expected to increase in 2000.
