New technologies that focus on energy conservation that delay new generation capacity by reducing electricity required for home and industry needs are discussed. Applications in lighting, motors, refrigerants and heat-pumps are included.

Most public utilities with demand-side management (DSM) programs use energy audits to implement energy-efficient concepts. Customer participation in the DSM programs is bringing about awareness and promotion of energy conservation.
