CE giants chase internet sales

Article Abstract:

The top 50 consumer electronics retailers in the US posted total sales of $64.3 bilion in 1998, up by 10.58% from $58.1 billion in 1997. An increasing percentage of the total sales came from Internet sales. Web sales represented around 1% of total overall retail sales, particularly from books, clothing, recorded music, filmed entertainment and consumer electronics. The market share of Web sales is projected to leap to 9% by the year 2001.

Other new products areCanon's multifunction Multipass C365, Brother's MP-21C and MP-21Cdx color ink-jet printers, DocuPort's four-function office peripheral and C Technologies' C Pen 200.
