Manufacturers of small rechargeable batteries such as nickel-cadmium are shifting to high-performance products in order to keep pace with the functional advances of portable and cordless electronic products as they become increasingly smaller and lighter. Demand for large capacity lithium ion batteries has expanded because they are well suited for powering mobile electronic products such as mobile phones and digital still cameras

Batteries for mobile gadgets drive rechargeable market

Article Abstract:

The growing demand for small rechargeable batteries such as nickel cadmium, nickel hydride and lithium ion batteries in mobile products such as cellular phones, digital cameras, etc are discussed. However, the sales of lithium ion batteries have reduced due to drop in prices, high competition from Korean and Chinese firms and increase in the prices of raw materials.
