Adaptive processing array systems
Article Abstract:
A general overview of adaptive processing array system antennas intended to address nonspecialists is presented. Background material and common threads with other disciplines are focused on in order to overcome the daunting level of complexity and mathematics involved. Three main topics are discussed: fully adaptive arrays, side lobe cancellers and superresolution techniques. Side lobe canceller techniques were the first true adaptive antenna systems to incorporate automatic interference nulling capabilities. Fully adaptive arrays are antenna systems in which all the DOF are controlled by an adaptive processor. This permits complete flexibility in its adaptive performance characteristics. Superresolution uses adaptive array antenna processing systems to overcome Rayleigh's limits on optical aperture resolution.

Robust adaptive control: a unified approach
Article Abstract:
Several different approaches have been used to develop robust adaptive control mechanisms that retain some stability in the presence of various modeling errors. While these schemes may appear unrelated, they actually share an underlying theory that can help create a unified method for creating robust adaptive control schemes. The first step in unifying the theories is to examine the various robust adaptive laws without their control structures. Once this has been done the laws can be combined with the robust controller schemes using the Certainty Equivalence Approach to create robust adaptive control schemes. Among the schemes examined are pole placement, linear placement and linear quadratic control structures.
