A View of Human-Machine Communication and Co-operation
Article Abstract:
Human-machine communication, though widely researched, still has many problems in useful implementation. Part of the cause may be due to a lack of an underlying theoretical communication model. Such a model, based on formal communication is introduced. Its relation to natural communication and the use of high-level Petri net interpretations for determining factors are discussed. Communication with computer systems may be thought of as a special form of delegation. Many problems which arise at the interface level may be explained by such a model.

The Birth of a New Machine
Article Abstract:
The concept of management work stations is finally taking hold due to the falling costs of technology and the widespread application of information. An increase in white collar employment is accompanying the trend toward a service economy. High management is using information as a basis for decision-making. Various workstation facilities are being used for the varying levels of management. Graphs depict the structure of the white-collar workforce and who will be using workstations for what purposes.
