Council says feds should get out of product testing and certification
Article Abstract:
The National Research Council has recommended the elimination of all product testing and certification programs being done by the federal government. The council noted that such programs are cumbersome and costly for both manufacturers and the federal government. It also suggested that Congress should mandate the National Institute of Standards and Technology to determine the best approach to phasing out federal government certification programs.
