EPA finalizes vegetable oil NESHAP
Article Abstract:
The EPA's promulgation of a final National Emission Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants is expected to affect 106 facilities that use hexane to extract oil from vegetable seeds. The rule limits emissions of toxic air pollutants from facilities that extract oil from one or more of eight kinds of oilseeds, namely soybeans, cottonseed, rapeseed or canola, corn germ, sunflower, safflower, peanut and flax. The EPA expects the regulation to cut hexane emissions by 6,800 tons annually and smog-forming volatile organic compounds by 10,600 tons a year.

EPA revises petroleum refinery NESHAP
Article Abstract:
The EPA has released a direct final rule covering new and existing petroleum refineries that revises the monitoring, record keeping and reporting requirements of the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP). The revisions are expected to become effective on May 19, 1998, unless important, adverse comments are received by Apr 20, 1998. NESHAP generally regulates hazardous air pollutants emitted from new and existing petroleum refineries that are major sources of hazardous air pollutant emissions.
