Critical issues for engineering managers
Article Abstract:
Five important problems face the engineering profession. The public image of engineers deteriorates with their continued irreverent and inequitable treatment of one another. An increasing amount of foreign firms are starting to encroach upon local markets while local engineers are unable to obtain overseas contracts. There is also a deterioration of lower level education quality, a shortage of higher education funding and diminishing of the engineering populace. Public infrastructures need to be upgraded, necessitating political involvement for engineers.
