Adding a bit of fun to a quality program

Members of GTE Network Services' management review team developed innovative ways to ensure employees' awareness of the company's quality initiatives. These include launching a Daily Trivia contest about the company's quality programs where employees can answer via e-mail and receive prizes for correct responses. Another is the use of hot pink papers to disseminate information about a new quality policy statement.

Preventive vs. corrective action: the horse, the barn door, and the apple
Article Abstract:
It is better to avoid business difficulties through the use of preventative quality system techniques rather than by taking corrective action. Organizations can make improvements to quality if information from data records made on previous project work is taken into account. Four instances illustrating the effects of preventative action are described.
