Financial kaizen: lowering hurdles to long-term investments
Article Abstract:
'Kaizen,' the Japanese word meaning continuous improvement, is the key to success in industry. It deals with recognizing and reducing waste and improving the manufacturing process and the end products. Profits have risen in the U.S. industry with better product designs, training, and facilities, but all of these have contributed to increase in capital costs. Japan, the world leader in global competition, has been able to lower production costs by methods such as assessing the competition, replacing creativity for capital, and checking the performance of a company in terms of finance.

Collaboration: moving in the same direction
Article Abstract:
A report from the Forum Corp in Boston, MA, suggests that corporate collaboration is necessary to attain more efficient but less costly business operations. Executives must change traditional concepts of personal power and absolute authority and practice collaboration instead. Unrestricted communication, however, within the organization is required to forge innovative and constructive ideas. Every member of the group must also be fully aware of his/her role.
