Fire alarm/evacuation system suited to large complex

Article Abstract:

Canada's Federal Laboratories for Human and Animal Health, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, was designed with an option to implement either fixed or flexible specifications. Designed by Smith Carter/Dunlop Farrow Architects, the 305,000-sq-ft facility was designed in 1993, with a view towards incorporating state-of-the-art systems. Aside from the most advanced communication and electrical cabling and conduit systems, this requirement also encompassed the installation of the latest access control technology, involving Pentium processors; a closed-circuit television system that comprised the latest cameras, matrix switcher, monitors and recorders; and sophisticated audio-visual equipment and lighting-control systems.
